Class Experience

CLASS BREAK DOWN

-5 min. Introduction and discussion about what students want for Christmas. (Unmute All)
-5 min. Teacher discusses the parts of a letter (heading/date, greeting, body, closing, signature).  (Mute All)
-10 min. Teacher discusses opinion/persuasive essay writing, using the OREO model. O - Opinion, R - Reason, E - Example, O - Opinion Restated.  (Mute All)
-20 min. Students are given time to write their letter. They will be able to ask the teacher questions during this time (Unmute All) but individuals may be muted if there is a lot of background noise or they are being disruptive to the other students. If a student gets done before the allotted time there is a word search provided, see "Materials - Learner Supply List." Please print it out and have your student bring it with them to class. If your student doesn't complete their letter by the end of class please assist them after class. 
-5 min. Students are given the opportunity to share their letters.

- Individuals may be Muted during Unmute All times if there is a lot of background noise or they are being disruptive to the other students.

Parental Guidance
Talk about religion or whether Santa is real will not be tolerated! Please make sure your child is aware of this before class. Thank you!
Supply List
A festive one-page lined paper will be provided. The student may print this paper and bring it to class. If the student is not able to print the handout, they can bring regular notebook paper. Be sure to bring a pencil and some ideas of what you want for Christmas! 
Also provided is a word search. Please print it out and have your student bring it with them to class if you believe they will finish their letter early (about 20 min. will be allotted for letter writing).

I have a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and I'm certified to teach grades 1st-8th and I'm TEFL certified. I've been teaching children for 12 years. I currently work as an Educator at Kennedy Space Center! I've also taught 2nd grade. I've done long-term substitute positions (grades 1st-6th, all subjects). I've worked in the 3 year old room at KinderCare. I've worked at tutoring centers, including Kumon and Huntington (ages 3-18 reading, writing and math). I've taught on other online platforms, including VIPKid and Magic Ears (ages 3-14, teaching English Language Learners). I also have 3 children of my own!
