Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
Welcome to the writing class where you will reach new writing heights throughout this course. As Abraham Maslow once said: In any given moment, we have two options, to step forward into growth or to step back into safety. All Students are welcome whether you are experienced or looking to finesse your writing, come and be challenged to new heights.

~In this course, students will learn how to craft four different short stories including, character-driven, setting-driven, and plot-driven.

~My goal is to ensure that students will learn in a dynamic and engaging environment with the advantages of learning at their own pace, and thus I will use a variety of interactive tools, videos, and presentations.
On top of this, students will have access to a plethora of examples to help facilitate their writing process. Every step of the writing process will be explored to its fullest through my recordings. This is a SELF-PACED version for students who cannot attend the live sessions. Each week, students will view an interactive lesson recording that is to be played and paused during viewing for lesson completion. Students will post a weekly writing assignment in the peer feedback section for peer collaboration. Students will also submit their revised, edited, and published writing weekly to the teacher to be put in a writing portfolio to be sent to parents after the course.

~It is crucial for students to not only consume the content, but implement their learning into their work, and therefore there will be plenty of opportunities for them to do so.

☀️Learning Expectations and Objectives
Students will receive all materials before class to ensure any document PDF can be printed. If there is no way to print these out, then ensure you set up a Google Doc account. Every student will be asked to participate to gain further insight into class content, exercises, and assignments.

~Chat may be used whenever deemed necessary, however, students will need to be respectful of others and post class-appropriate content.

~Every learner will have the opportunity to complete all the necessary assignments.

☀️Other Important Information
Please note that I will give support and feedback through video recordings, during the 9 weeks.

☀️ I look forward to having your learner in class for a more independent learning experience!

For learners who need differentiation, shorter writing assignments will be acceptable, and sentence stems, and helpful questions for the outlines to assist with writing.
