This class will use videos made by the teacher to learn about unusual animals from around the world. There will also be links to videos that are freely available if students or parents want to learn even more. Each week, there will be a worksheet for the learners to complete that will help them to make sure they have a complete picture of each animal's characteristics. Learners will be asked to make short videos to share what they have learned. They will upload the video to our classroom....
By the end of class, learners will know the definitions of the following words: mammal, bird, fish, reptile, amphibian, invertebrate, herbivore, carnivore, omnivore, predator, prey, habitat, adaptation, life cycle, and reproduce. Learners will create a book about these eleven unusual animals.
Learners will complete individual worksheets about each animal. They will create a book they can share with others. Each week's homework should take no more than one hour.
All worksheets will be posted in the classroom. All videos will be posted or linked in the classroom. The Kahoot games will be linked in the classroom.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
There will be some discussion about the life cycles of the animals and how they reproduce. For animals that reproduce sexually, I will simply say the male fertilizes the egg.
We will use teacher-made videos, Youtube videos, and Kahoot games.
