Description

Class Experience

As a gifted specialist, I am trained and qualified to navigate a class discussion through difficult topics. I am capable of showing respect to a student's interests and desire to feel 'heard', while still protecting the social-emotional needs of other learners in the classroom. I am trained to recognize the age-appropriateness of topics, and I can competently steer a conversation to more age-appropriate topics.

50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
The old west is characterized as a very lawless and violent time in history. While I will not specifically "teach" some of the more violent aspects of this time period, it is reasonable to expect that other learners may come to this class with prior knowledge. Gifted learners often have deeper understandings of topics than non-gifted peers. Through class discussion, it is foreseeable that learners may bring up topics, including scalping, hanging, opium abuse, or other more serious topics.
