This 12 week course will help your child learn what it means to worry, how to manage their worries and what to do when they are feeling worried. Worries or anxiety can affect a student in their schoolwork, home life and relationships with others. Students can feel as if they are not alone in their worries when they meet others that have similar feelings as they do. We will cover different ways to cope with worries and different ways to help calm down. If you feel your child has an anxiety disorder, outside counseling may be beneficial. The following weeks will cover- Week 1- Group Introduction We will introduce ourselves and talk different things we like to do. This helps the students feel connected. Week 2- Worry Monster Students identify their "Worry Monster" and name three things that their worry monster worries about. Week 3- What's Happening in My Body Students will be able to identify three things that someone may feel when they are feeling worried. We will go over different experiences of anxiety or worry. Week 4- All Tied Up with Worry Week 5- Realm of Control Students will learn what type of situations they can control and what they can not control. Week 6- Grounding Exercises Students will learn grounding techniques. Week 7- Deep Breathing Breathing exercises will be taught for calming strategies for when a student feels worried. Week 8- Worry Warriors Students will create a worry warrior to tell their worries to. Week 9- Muscle Relaxation Students will be guided through a meditation script that will help their muscles relax. Week 10- Coping Dice Students will learn 6 different coping strategies to learn when they are worried. Week 11- Worry Battle Cards We will review 10 different coping strategies to use while worried. Week 12- Group Termination

Students will learn how to identify worries, build confidence in their ability to succeed and demonstrate effective coping skills.
