In this informative, One-Time class we will review the events, concepts, and people involved with the Second World War. This class is an overview of events which highlights the main campaigns, battles and events in terms of historical causation emphasizing the importance of chronology in the study of history. Toward the end of the class (depending upon time available after discussion) both student and teacher will address a number of history skill specific questions to confirm understanding. A very thorough handout with the presentation material, questions and answers is provided. Main Topics: Timeline overview of the Second World War Unresolved disputes during the inter-war years Significant figures and events of the war The end of World War II Also known as WWII, the Second World War was a military conflict between the Axis (Germany, Italy and Japan) and Allied Powers (Great Britain, US and the USSR) which officially lasted from 1939 until 1945. Historians agreed that the war was a result of unsettled disputes left by the First World War (1914-1918). Regarded as the bloodiest and largest war in history, WWII left about 75 million casualties, both civilians and military personnel. Battles were largely fought in Eastern and Western Europe, the Mediterranean, North Africa and Asia-Pacific. The end of the war marked the collapse of Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy and Imperialist Japan. This is a very good class for those wishing to begin a more in-depth study of the Interwar Period or the Second World War.
