This class will introduce students to World War II military history in a fun and interactive way. In each of our three classes, we will be working our way through an interactive adventure. Class #1: USS Houston Escape Room Challenge -This lesson will introduce students to the history of the USS Houston, while they work together to repair a large battery that was destroyed in naval combat. Class #2: Saving the Mona Lisa -This lesson will look into art theft during World War II. Students will learn about the journey of the Mona Lisa during the second World War as they work as a museum conservator who has been put in charge of protecting the painting. Students will complete a variety of puzzles and riddles as they work their way through France with the famous painting. Class #3: Escape of the Doolittle Raider -This lesson will look at the Doolittle Raiders through the eyes of Chase Nielsen, a career US Air Force officer who spent 40 months in Prisoner of War camps after being taken prisoner after the Doolittle Raid in 1942. Students will work to help Chase safely escape from a POW camp and find a way home with Allied spies. Classes will be conducted with the help of Google Forms. Images and videos will also be used in class to help students engage with material.

Parental Guidance
No violent content will be discussed in this class.
No discussion of the horrors of war, or wars against humanity will be held during this class.
The USS Houston does sink, so there will be some discussion of naval combat.
In class 1, students work to repair a large gun on a naval vessel.
In Class 3, the loss of two Doolittle Raiders in a plane crash and four Doolittle Raiders in POW Camps is briefly mentioned, but not discussed in depth. These two incidents are relevant to the Escape Room, and the story of the Doolittle Raiders.
