I have been teaching history classes on Outschool for the past two years, but my deep interest in history began long before that.  These classes are some of my favorite to teach because I live and breathe the subject matter.  World War II and the Holocaust have been areas I have studied for years.  I have attended over 20 lectures given by Holocaust survivors – including Anne Frank’s step sister and one of the last surviving people on Schindler’s List.  For the past 11 years, I have studied a wide-range of historical events relating to WWII and the Jewish people under the tutelage of Rabbi Norman Lipson (an expert in the field). I feel it is essential for learners to understand this period in history because tidal waves of hate continue to rise around the world.  Identifying historical patterns is essential to be a well-informed peacemaker in our own communities and beyond.  

I teach a number of classes on WWII, the Holocaust, and the Cold War.  Additionally, I moderate a book club called Rebel Girls Book Club where we read very rich historical fiction books featuring strong female lead characters.  As we read our chosen novels, we dig into the context of that period in history and separate fact from fiction.  Each book or movie utilized in this class will be a springboard for deeper discussion, analysis and debate.
