What's included
Class Experience
In this flexible learning course, students will uncover many of the most intriguing mysteries of the sea. Students will be guided through their discovery with a new interactive lesson posted each week (with the use of Nearpod). Each lesson is carefully created for students to follow along, absorb information and actively take part in games, activities, class polls, virtual fields trips, quizzes and projects along the way. Although lessons are completed individually, ongoing class interaction will take place through both Nearpod collaborate boards (embedded in the lessons) and group discussion in the Outschool classroom tab. Nearpod is convenient and easy for students to use. The platform works with Chromebooks, iPads, iPhones and Android devices, using any operating system or browser. I use this tool because it allows for a high level of student involvement throughout the course. As the teacher, Nearpod sends me a report to show how students complete activities through each lesson, which allows me to work closely with each individual, giving feedback and assistance. In addition to weekly lessons, students will be encouraged to complete fun weekly projects. Students will be able to share their projects and converse with their classmates by posting pictures, videos, comments and questions in the Outschool classroom tab. I will provide feedback on projects, as well as monitor and take part in each class discussion. 8 Week Course Outline: Week 1: Ocean Geography Week 2: Bizarre Deep Sea Creatures Week 3: Marine Migration Week 4: The Titanic Week 5: Underwater Volcanoes Week 6: The Mariana Trench Week 7: Bermuda Triangle Week 8: Mysteries of the Sea - Escape Room!
