Class Experience

Are you ready to enter a world of fantasy and magic? This camp will feature drama, crafts, cooking and games all about your favourite fantasy creatures. Each day of camp will explore a different fantasy creature, from dragons to unicorns. Throughout the week, we will also work on an original play to present on the last day of camp, where campers star as their favourite fantasy character. I am an experienced youth theatre director, teacher and summer camp leader who loves involving children in creative experiences.

Below is a more detailed breakdown for each day of camp:

Day 1 - Fairies:
On the first day of camp, we will fly with the fairies. We will cook up a delicious fairy bread treat, create a fairy tiara to wear, design our own miniature fairies, and make a fairy wand. We will also get to know each other through fun drama games and choose the characters we will star as in our camp play.

Day 2 - Dragons:
On the second day of camp, we will roar with the dragons. We will cook up dragon rice krispie treats, create a fire breathing dragon craft, make a dragon that releases powerful foam, and design a dragon puppet. We will also continue to play fun drama games and read through the script for our camp play for the first time.

Day 3 - Unicorns:
On the third day of camp, we will frolic with the unicorns. We will cook up no-bake unicorn cheesecake, create a unicorn horn we can wear, and design a unicorn marionette. We will also play more fun drama games and rehearse our camp play.

Day 4 - Mermaids:
On the fourth day of camp, we will swim with the mermaids. We will cook up ocean themed pudding cups, create a mermaid with a fancy tail, make a mermaid hair clip or brooch, and design a simple mermaid puppet. We will also hold the final rehearsals for our camp play and find props and costumes from our own wardrobes to use in our performance.

Day 5 - Witches and Wizards:
On the fifth day of camp, we will conjure spells with witches and wizards. We will cook up wizard hat treats, create a cauldron craft, make a wizard hat and beard decoration, and design a witch puppet. We will also perform our camp play. At the end of the camp day, each learner will receive a certificate recognizing the magical gifts they brought to camp.
Learning Goals
Learners will practice drama skills needed for performance. They will also have plenty of chances to collaborate with others and activate their imaginations.
