Class Experience

1. Students will develop their communication and leadership skills by participating news discussions.
2. Students will deepen their global perspective by discussing international news articles.
I have been an ESL / EFL teacher since 2005. I have taught various English classes online and in five countries (South Korea, Japan,Costa Rica, Chile, and Ecuador). I enjoy teaching communicative English skills to enhance students' confidence and ability to use English in daily conversations and on social media. I have a TEFL / TESOL certificate, a BA in Sociology from UCLA in Los Angeles, and a MFA (nonfiction writing) from USC in Los Angeles.
1. Each student will select a news article from Engoo and email the article to me (the teacher). Student should prepare questions to ask the class during discussion time.
2. Teacher will select a news article from Engoo for discussion. Students should read the article before class in order to participate in the discussion.
Engoo News
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
NOTE: Students must lead the news discussion of the second article; if the students do not lead the news discussion, we will end the class early as the student didn't prepare the work for the second half of the lesson.

*Advanced English language skills are required. If a student enrolls in the class and cannot speak English at a normal pace nor maintain a news discussion, the student will be removed from the class immediately. No refund will be given **
