This "module" is meant to introduce high school pupils to French literature in depth. With guidance, pupils will choose the novels/poetry/drama or other literary masterpieces they are willing to read for the next week. When the piece is too long, an extract will be suggested. All sessions are interactive. Week 1 We will discuss what we want the takeaways from the course to be. The lesson will be based around an overview of the historical and social context of French literature throughout...
Students will learn about French literature (ancient, classic and modern) and critically discuss, compare and contrast the pieces in relation to the time and social context they were written in. Students will also develop analytical, critical and independent research skills, which will be useful for further education.
I have a BA French degree with focus on literary studies and medieval occitan literature. With a 3000-book library, I continue enjoying and sharing my passion for literary studies with others.
Reading the books and finding a bit more about the author/historical period. Sometimes extra resources will need to be accessed, but this will be communicated in advance.
Students will be directed to websites or print where they can find copies of the literary piece.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
A Certificate of Completion will be offered to those who complete the whole course.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
