Students will learn by listening to prescribed podcast episodes and taking notes on those. There will be a few questions assigned that we will discuss in class and they can prepare their responses for those class times. Students will interact with the teacher through video lessons once a week where we will discuss what they have been learning in the prescribed episodes. Overview: This is the first class in the first series on Ottoman History. This first series is on the Rise of the Ottoman Empire from a small Bay(principality) in Anatolia to a powerhouse of similar size to the Roman Empire. Teacher expertise and credentials
2 Degrees
Master's Degree in Education from MidAmerica Nazarene University
Bachelor's Degree from Auburn University - Economics
I have a Masters Degree in Education and have been an avid history enthusiast for as long as I can remember. The area around the Mediterranean is the most important area for the development and continued existence of western culture and so has had most of my 30 years worth of study committed to it. Egyptians, Greek, Romans, Ottomans, and Mongols all have a part to play and so this topic is one of my big 5.
