- This goal of this course is to expose learners to the different cultures and traditions around the world. I believe this exposure enriches the educational experience for learners and helps them to become an informed global citizen. As they learn to locate countries on the map, their neighboring countries, the physical and human characteristics of a place, it fosters cultural awareness and appreciation. This helps students to develop tolerance and respect for diversity.
I have been teaching geography for the past three years and I absolutely enjoy sharing my passion with young learners. My area expertise is in the social sciences. I hold a Bachelors in Sociology & Social work (with minor in Economics) and an Mphil in Sociology. I am currently pursuing a graduate degree program in Education. I consider myself a life-long learner and continue to take professional development courses with organizations such as National Geographic Society.
Assessment
Frequency: includedDetails: Informal assessments offered through games and quizzes.
An optional worksheet is available in the classroom for students to print. I encourage students to have a globe or world map close by.
I utilize platforms like Kahoot!, Blooket, YouTube and Google earth in some lessons whenever possible. Students do not need an account to join in playing Kahoot! and Blooket. I will share a code in the class room that directs them into the game. I will screen share whenever I am sharing from YouTube and Google Earth.
