Class experience

US Grade 5 - 8
This class is taught in English.
This geography course aims to give students a better understanding of our physical and human systems, their interconnectedness, impact on our everyday life, and vice versa.
I hold a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Sociology with a minor in Economics at the undergraduate level. My undergraduate dissertation focused on Medical Sociology and Migration & Population studies a the graduate level. My studies and research work provided me with a deeper understanding of societal groups/structures and how humans interact with and within these structures. Examples of courses I took include urban sociology, industrial sociology, and sociology of religion.

I am currently pursuing another degree in Education and actively continue to learn through personal research and writing. I also take professional development courses with reputable and professional online community of educators such as edWeb and National Geographic Society. I enjoy teaching the Social Sciences. My goal as an educator is to inspire young learners to be more curious about the world around them.
Homework Offered
Students will be assigned a project to research, and give a brief presentation at the end of the course.

This class may use blooket or gimkit for reviewing the lesson. These are fun, gamified learning platforms that enables students to review class material by answering questions in a quiz-style format. Students do not need an account or additional device to play the game. I will send a direct link to the game where the student clicks and joins the game directly.

The class also utilizes google earth (via screen share) for an interactive exploration of some of the places we learn about. Please note that some video content is from Youtube (learners will watch no more than 4 minutes). Content is age appropriate and will be screen shared. Learners will not go onto any external websites.
