A fun and interactive 16-week course that covers a full semester of Physical Geography for young explorers. Students will learn and discuss concepts in geography and gain foundational skills to explore our world. (Maps, oceans, and countries, and more. Great for homeschool Social Studies).

Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 6
Students will gain an understanding of different geographical concepts (physical geography). They will sharpen their map reading skills, learn about continents and oceans, significant water bodies, landforms, biomes, and more.
I hold a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Sociology. I am also currently working towards a Masters in Education. I enjoy learning and teaching Social Studies related topics. I am very passionate about geography and how it affects every aspect of our daily lives. I believe it is a subject every child should be exposed to at an early age so they can learn the foundational and essential skills needed to navigate and explore our wonderful world.
Sometimes, live lessons are followed up with optional activities to be completed at home. Students are assigned with a research project to work on which will be presented to the class at the end of the course.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This class may use blooket or gimkit for reviewing the lesson. These are fun, gamified learning platforms that enables students to review class material by answering questions in a quiz-style format. Students do not need an account or additional device to play the game. I will send a direct link to the game where the student clicks and joins the game directly.

The class also utilizes google earth (via screen share) for an interactive exploration of some of the places we learn about. Please note that some video content is from Youtube (learners will watch no more than 4 minutes). Content is age appropriate and will be screen shared. Learners will not go onto any external websites.
