Ideally, learners need to have completed Geography Intro (Part 1) live or via a flexible option to participate fully in this class. I am a teacher with global experience. I have lived and taught in 3 different countries. I'm excited about the opportunity to share my love of cultures and geography with learners. I'm an enthusiastic teacher and plan my classes to include practical educational experiences. Practical assignments will be provided weekly to reinforce what the students have covered in the classroom sessions. Week 1- Create a collage of an important natural location in North America Week 2- History Timeline Week 3- History Timeline (Cont.) Week 4- Create a perfect road trip to see what you think are the 10 top sights in US/Canada and Mexico Week 5- Newspaper front page Week 6- Create historic architecture from the Inca, Maya or other ancient civilization Week 7- Create historic architecture from the Inca, Maya or other ancient civilization (Cont.) Week 8- Make a dish or meal for/with your family from the Caribbean, Central or South America Week 9 - None
3 files available upon enrollmentThis course is being drawn from facts from a World Cultures and Geography curriculum. Any informational materials needed by students will be provided by the teacher. A student may need to do research on their own to complete an assignment but information will be freely available on safe websites such as YouTube, Google Earth and National Geographic. Students may need to access items for practical projects such as poster board, computer paper, writing and drawing utensils, glue, etc.
Learner progress will be evaluated according to the US Common Core Standards and National Standards of Social Studies for Geography adopted by most states. Feedback will be provided in an ungraded learner report or graded report card within 1-2 weeks after class ends.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
