Class Experience

Welcome to World Cultures and Geography - Regional Overview. This is an advanced/accelerated class covering 10 lessons in 5 weeks. For those interested, this course also meets the Quebec Education Program requirement for Secondary Cycle One. 

Class time is structured similarly across all the Geography and World Cultures classes I offer. This is to provide consistency for learners while still introducing fun new learning activities through their weekly projects. 

Learners can expect: 
5 minutes warm-up
45 minute lecture including discussions, slides and video clips
5 minute "beyond the classroom" learning assignment provided

1- Welcome and Metropolises (Montreal and Cairo) including location, characteristics, planning and development and issues affecting Metropolises.
2- Cities Subject to Natural Hazards (Quito and San Francisco) including location, characteristics, planning and development and issues affecting Cities Subject to Natural Hazards.
3- UNESCO Heritage Cities (Walled City of Quebec and Athens) including location, characteristics, planning and development and issues affecting Heritage Cities.
4- Tourist and Forest Regions (Banff National Park and The Rocky Mountains, Tahiti and British Columbia) including location, characteristics, planning and development and issues affecting Tourist and Forest Regions.
5- Energy Producing Regions (The Persian Gulf and Southwest Asia) including location, characteristics, planning and development and issues affecting Energy Producing Regions.
6- Industrial Regions (American and Canadian Great Lakes and New South Wales in Australia) including location, characteristics, planning and development and issues affecting Industrial Regions.
7- Agricultural Regions and Agricultural Areas Subject to Natural Hazards (Agricultural Territory of Quebec and Japan and The Sahel) including location, characteristics, planning and development and issues affecting Agricultural Regions and Agricultural Areas Subject to Natural Hazards.
8- Native Territory (Nunavut and Pueblo People) including location, characteristics, planning and development and issues affecting Native Territory and People.
9- Protected Territories (The Galapagos) including location, characteristics, planning and development and issues affecting Protected Territories.
10- Class Closure with review game
