Workout Around the World: Exercising to Music From a New Region Every Week

Class Experience

Each week, we will do a full body-only workout to music from around the world. We'll concentrate on a certain region in each class and even integrate a couple of dance moves that are popular with the region's music.

Over the course of 8 weeks, we will explore: 

Week 1: Music of Western Africa
Week 2: Music of Latin America
Week 3: Music of South and Central Asia
Week 4: Music of the Caribbean
Week 5: Music of East Asia and the Pacific Islands
Week 6: Music of the Middle East
Week 7: Music of Eastern Europe
Week 8: Music of Central and South Africa

The course is structured such that we begin with a warm-up consisting of light stretching and cardio while we discuss the region, popular music styles there. The sequence of exercises will be 20-25 minutes of the workout including transitions to a yoga pose following each exercise to encourage cool down and active recovery. Water breaks are built into the course to ensure learners stay hydrated. 

Learners in this class will:
*Gain multicultural appreciation for music and dance.
*Perform age-appropriate exercises to stimulate gross motor skills, locomotor skills, body awareness, general coordination, & balance.

Parental Guidance
All exercises will be age-appropriate and taught by a certified personal trainer. However, please be close by for learners to reach out should they feel faint/dizzy, excessively tired, or injured.
