In these 1:1 tutoring sessions, I will use evidence-based activities to help the learner develop spelling skills--word games, great children's books, and creative writing.

US Grade 3 - 6
Beginner - Intermediate Level
The sessions will be broken into 3 parts: 20 minutes—Catch up, introduce new spelling words and play word games 10 minutes—Read and discuss a picture or chapter book 10 minutes—Collaboratively write sentences or a paragraph using the spelling words During each session, we will introduce new spelling words on slides, play collaborative online games with the words, review the words from last week, read the new words in context, discuss them, and use them in context (writing). Playing word games, reading new words in context, and writing them are the most effective ways to develop spelling skills. I will provide more specific phonics or phonemic awareness instruction as needed. Possible topics covered will be basic English phonics, context clues, spelling patterns, and syllables.
Learning Goals
The learner will grow in using and applying spelling rules and patterns.The learner will develop contextual word knowledge as it relates to spelling.
