This one-hour class will teach you the skills of getting your own way - persuading people. These are the powers that politicians use to win elections. The skills that public speakers and YouTubers use to inspire you. The word-tools that help you to change people’s minds. 

We will look at some of the language techniques that speakers and writers use to influence people - for example, repetition and ‘the power of three’ - as well as some of the secrets of persuasion that have been discovered by psychologists. You will get a chance to begin preparing your own persuasive talk.

We will use a silly role-play game in which to practise our very real rhetorical devices. Very sadly - we are all in a hot air balloon that is starting to go down. I need to persuade you that I should stay, and you must persuade me to jump to save you all!
