As an elementary and special education classroom teacher, I have taught Word study Spelling and phonemic awareness through multi-sensory approach using visual, auditory, and kinesthetic methods. I have a level 2 certificate in the Wilson Fundations level 2 program. The program I taught was a school wide program and intervention program as well. I have seen students achieve success and growth with implementing programs that offer the multi-sensory approach in word study and phonemic awareness.
Homework: Homework is not required but recommended activities are suggested. It is recommended that the students practice to improve their word study spelling and phonemic awareness skills. They can practice writing their words with paper and pencil.

As an introduction to word study and phonemic awareness program I will assess new students phonemic awareness and knowledge with a quick informal inventory of skills through question and responses. I will complete informal assessments throughout the lessons. First, during the students active engagement at the beginning of the lesson. Then, during the middle of the lesson within building words for spelling, reading , and writing. At the end of the lesson, I will be assessing the students completed assignments during class.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
