Learn strategies to improve reading and spelling of words with R-controlled vowels. Then utilize those skills in an underwater themed escape room. Lessons are research based and effective for all students, including those with dyslexia.

-Learn about R-controlled vowels.
-Spell one and two syllable words with “ar” pattern.
-Discuss and use new vocabulary words.
-Analyze and practice irregularly spelled high frequency words in isolation and in sentences.

-Discuss when to use “or” and “ore” spellings.

-Read and spell words with the /er/ sound.
-Learn the various spelling of the /er/ sound.
-Read and spell words where “wor” makes the /er/ sound.

Learning Needs
Students with challenges in reading and spelling, including those with dyslexia.
Pre-Requisites
Able to read and spell one and two syllable words such as clutch, pledge, revolt and, twenty.
Supply List
Notebook and fine tipped marker (ex. Crayola or Flair)

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
