In this 8 week course, students will learn strategies used to solve word problems and practice solving word problems.

In this on-going course, student will use the CUBES method to help them solve words problems. Students will learn the steps of CUBE (circle the numbers, underline the question, box the keywords, eliminate what you don’t need, and solve and label your answer) to give them the skills they need in order to solve various types of word problems. Students will work alone and together to solve single and multi-step word problems. The word problems will include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Students will learn how to determine what information is needed and what is not. They will develop the confidence to be able to solve multi-step word problems on their own.
