Beginner - Intermediate Level
Welcome to Word Ninjas! In this fun and interactive drop-in class, learners will sharpen their spelling skills by exploring tricky word patterns, spelling rules, and commonly misspelled words. Each class stands alone, focusing on a specific topic like silent letters, suffixes, or homophones. No prior experience is required, and learners can join at any time without feeling behind. Each session features a new spelling rule or word group, with themes such as: - Silent letters (*knight, ghost*). - Common suffixes (*-ing, -ed, -tion*). - Tricky homophones (*their/there/they’re*). - High-frequency and commonly misspelled words (*friend, beautiful, because*). Learners will practice through engaging games, puzzles, and creative challenges that make spelling fun and memorable. My teaching style is highly interactive and student-centered. Learners will: - Play spelling games and solve puzzles. - Collaborate on challenges and word activities. - Share their ideas and answers in a supportive environment. Every activity encourages participation and teamwork, with plenty of opportunities to interact with me and other learners. This class is designed for learners at all skill levels, whether they’re building confidence in spelling or just love word games. Because each session is standalone, new learners can jump right in without missing anything from previous classes. I’ll start every class with a warm welcome, a brief introduction to the day’s topic, and a fun icebreaker so everyone feels included. This 45-minute class is fast-paced and energetic. A typical session includes: 1. A quick warm-up game. 2. A mini-lesson on the day’s topic. 3. Interactive practice with group games and activities. 4. A fun challenge or wrap-up game. By the end of each class, learners will feel more confident in their spelling abilities and eager to tackle their next word challenge!

Other Details
Supply List
Paper or a small notebook, and pencil or pen for writing down spelling words. A small whiteboard and dry-erase marker which can be found at any Dollar Tree store can be used en lieu of paper and pen. Colored pencils, crayons, or markers for any creative activities like decorating spelling words that we might do.

I bring over 25 years of experience in education. I have taught a variety of grade levels, from primary to high school, which has given me a deep understanding of how children develop their spelling and literacy skills over time.
As a proponent of phonics-based instruction and training in the Science of Reading, I have spent years helping students build strong foundational skills in spelling, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. My teaching approach emphasizes fun, hands-on learning activities that engage students and boost their confidence in language arts.
In addition to my classroom experience, I’ve worked one-on-one with neurodiverse learners, creating individualized strategies to support their literacy development. I also hold a Doctorate in Education, where my research explored student engagement and effective learning strategies.
Whether in traditional classrooms or through interactive online classes, my passion is helping students feel confident and successful in mastering new skills. I’m excited to bring this energy and expertise to every Word Ninjas class!Reviews
