Class Experience

General 

In this ongoing class, students will learn Greek and Latin roots in discussion and lecture-based lessons, with the aim of building the skills to decode any word. 

Each class focuses on one Greek and one Latin root (or root group). First, we will discuss possible meanings of each root using sample words. Then, I’ll present the meaning of the root with meanings of example words, broken into parts to highlight the root. I use a variation of vocabulary semantic maps to present roots...

Students will improve their ability to decode difficult words using Greek and Latin roots

After each class, I will provide extension activities that students can complete optionally at home.

25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
