Class Experience

Sawing is an integral part of woodworking, but there are so many different types of saws, it can seem overwhelming! In this class we break down the different types of woodworking saws, pros and cons of each, and usage.

Each week will be a combination of whiteboarding of concepts, plus live examples and videos of different saws.

Week 1: Hand Saws
    Wood Saw
    Coping Saw
    Hack Saw
    Keyhole Saw
    Demonstration of correct technique
Expectation and limitations of hand saws

Week 2: Power Saws
    Circular Saw
    Table Saw
    Radial Arm Saw
    Jig Saw
    SawzAll
    Miter Saw

Safety with saws is always a paramount concern, so we will be discussing safety rules in general as well as about each type of saw individually.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been involved in woodworking all my life, as a lay and sometimes professional woodworker. I have personally built furniture, houses, fencing, etc. I bring with this my expertise in giving a deep understanding of the concepts, not just skill development.
