Class Experience Students will watch live demonstrations of technique and then follow the guidelines to practice and get better at specific goals. Students will interact to see what specific problems each student has in order to get better! In our allotted time we will go over: how to warm up how to create a correct embouchure how to articulate (tongue) how to play basic songs that use 5 notes how to play harder songs how to count rhythms how to identify notes Time will be structured...
Students will improve their tone, articulation, embouchure, reed selection, etc The big goal is for each student to practice correctly on assigned music in order to improve!
I have been playing and teaching woodwind instruments for 25 years and I love watching students grow as young musicians!
Students must practice an instrument in order to get better at it. If the student wants to make all state band, make district band, make all region band, etc. they must commit at least a small amount of time daily to getting better. Each student will be assigned work for them that is differentiated based on their age, what they are currently working on, and new assignments based on their progress.
A working flute, clarinet or saxophone and reeds, music that the student has been working on prior to the lesson.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Please encourage your student to a) practice, and b) show you specifically what they have learned in class.
