Description
Class Experience
To encourage physical exercise and exploration in the great outdoors! To be able to follow step-by-step visual demonstrations to make their own wand. To communicate with other students through verbal and visual strategies.
I have been a qualified Special Education Teacher for 17 years and also recently qualified as a Forest School Leader. I have worked with special education/neurodiverse children in alternative education for the past ten. I have vast experience of teaching children of all ability levels. Academically this class is paced at a lower developmental/cognitive age of 5-7 years. However, social interaction and verbal communication will be age appropriate for an older child (11-15 years).
No homework will be provided after this class, however it would be great if students continued enjoying their woodland wanders in the great outdoors!
Students need a stick suitable to make a wand. One collected off the ground during a woodland walk is perfect. Pieces of string, ribbon, card, paper etc to add to the end of the wand. Glue
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parents/carers may need to assist adding ribbons, card, paper etc to their wand. I will be using Canva to screen share a PowerPoint. No account is required.
We will be referring to the English Countryside Code during discussions of how to stay safe in the woodland environment.
