Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 9
In this one time class, your learner will learn all about four of the most popular figures of speech: Metaphor, Simile, Oxymoron, and Hyperbole, that are required grammar concepts in most middle school classrooms. Maybe your learner need some extra help learning these grammar concepts for school, or they are an aspiring writer that wants to improve upon their craft. Either way, learning to identify and use these figures of speech allows your learner to become a more accomplished writer, and to better understand and appreciate the literary techniques found in literature. In class we will learn about each of these figures of speech, and spend some time identifying and practicing each of them through a variety of activities. Grammar practice doesn't have to be boring, it can also be stimulating and fun!

Hello! My name is Teacher Donna and I am so excited to meet you! I have a Bachelor's Degree in Education with a concentration in English, an active teaching certificate, and am currently in the process of completing my Master's Degree as a Reading Specialist. I teach here on Outschool, teach English Language Learners on another online teaching platform, and stay home with my own four young kiddos. My kids (ages 13, 10, 8, and 6) keep me on my toes and help me to come up with new and fun lessons to bring into the classroom for your own little learners. I love teaching children of all ages, and am looking forward to becoming your child's Teacher. My teaching philosophy is that, "We are Lifelong Learners!" I want to foster a love of learning in my classroom through engaging, fun, and creative lessons. I hope to see you in my classroom very soon!
