Designed for 4th-6th graders, this course will help your learner grow in critical reading, vocabulary, and writing skills. With short, manageable chapters, students will explore important comprehension strategies, such as making inferences, analyzing characters and settings, and using text evidence. Some of the comprehension skills addressed in this novel study include: 🔹Making inferences 🔹Drawing conclusions 🔹Describing character change 🔹Analyzing characters and setting 🔹Identifying the main idea 🔹Point of view 🔹Context clues and vocabulary 🔹Using descriptive language 🔹Summarizing 🔹Utilizing text evidence Wonder tells the inspiring story of Auggie Pullman, a young boy navigating school life with craniofacial differences. Learning Goals

Parental Guidance
These texts are approved for the middle-grade level and are designed to challenge students. Please refer to commonsense media to make sure that the novel is appropriate for your learner. Some of the text does involve sad situations. The book contains bullying and hateful language but goodness wins out, and readers should find it inspiring and uplifting. The novel also has messages of individuality, nonconformity, friendship and courage. Topics will be handled from a trauma-informed approach.
