In this 8 week course students will complete a book study of the book Wonder by RJ Palacio. They will read around 16 chapters per week (the chapters are very short), listen to me read the chapters, and answer questions/play a kahoot game. Students will meet with me twice a week for the book club. Usually these days are on Tuesdays and Thursdays but sometimes they might fall on Wednesdays or Fridays due to holidays or other events.
Class experience
I would like it if students would read (or try to read!) the chapters before the class but if they cannot that is fine! I will be reading a summary of each chapter to them during the first 30 minutes of class. The final 30 minutes will be completing related assignments and answering questions. At the end of each class there will be a fun Kahoot game where students will compete to answer questions about the chapters read during the last week. Students will need to have the physical copy of the book Wonder by RJ Palacio or they can utilize the pdf version that will be shared with them before the first class.

We will be utilizing kahoot. Kahoot requires parental consent. We will be doing Kahoot during the last 8 minutes of class. If you do not want your child to participate they can leave class early! In order for your child to use Kahoot they will need to input a code that I will give them during live class. No account is needed. We will also be utilizing google jamboard. For this, students will need a google account and access to google jamboard. Please make sure they can access google jamboards before class begins so when I share the jamboard with them they can participate in all of the fun activities! If you do not wish for them to have a google account that is fine! They can still follow along during class!
