Description

Class Experience

In this class, students will be reading from the book "Let it Shine: Stories of Black Women Freedom Fighters."  This is a book designed to share the stories of women of color to children.  

Each class, we will read a story about one of the women and discuss it.  Students will have a sheet they need to print and answer during class.  In the last week, students will read one story for the first class and then do a short project on a favorite character.  Students will need to color a coloring...

I took a class on African American history in college.  I have also taught children ages 5-12.  I am teaching from a book that is age-appropriate.

Students will be required to pick one of their favorite women of color and write a one-paragraph summary about her.

1 hour 10 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
