In this multiple-day class, students will learn about the well-known artist Georgia O’Keefe. She was a famous artist in a time when women in art was rare. Encouraged by her parents to pursue a career in art, Georgia went to art college and found her passion. She is most famous for her flowers, but she also created cityscapes and nature. Day 1: Blue construction paper Black construction paper Acrylic paint Palette/plate Paint brush Cup with water Table covering Glue Scissors Day 2: Card stock or canvas Pencil Black sharpie Acrylic or Tempera paint: red, yellow, blue, black, brown and white Paint brush Palette/ plate Cup with water Table covering Day 3: White card stock Chalk pastels Hairspray Table covering Pencil Black sharpie Day 4: White card stock White oil pastel Watercolor Cup with water Paint brush Table covering
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students will be using scissors to cut out pieces of paper. Have your students use scissors they are comfortable with to accomplish the task.
