Women are and have always been important in society. Sadly, the contributions and accomplishments of women were often not given proper credit and recognition during their lifetimes. Not much was written about women in the ancient world. We will talk about what life was typically like for women in the ancient world. Traditionally, roles for women centered on taking care of the home and raising children. These are important duties are often overlooked and not considered important, even today....
This class is taught in English.
Students will gain a deeper understand of the lives of women in the ancient world. They will also learn about famous women from ancient history from around the world.
I'm a certified social studies for grades 6-8. I'm fascinated by ancient history. I listen to lectures, podcasts, and audiobooks about history in my free time. I have 2 years of experience teaching social studies at the middle school level.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Violence, slavery, and war will be discussed in this class. Some students may find this disturbing. Graphic images and videos will not be shown. We will simply discuss what is needed to know to understand the lives of women in the Ancient World. This class uses Kahoot to check for understanding and to engage students, if time allows.
