US Grade 3 - 6
*** All my classes are available in Spanish upon request *** In this one time class, students will meet Annie Jump Cannon. She was an astronomer, and her contribution is still important for astronomers today. Her main contribution, and the one we will discuss in class, is how to classify stars. In the process of understanding this, students will learn about what spectroscopy is, what is a rainbow, what kind of star is our Sun. All of this will be explained in a language accesible to children without sacrificing the scientific content. Although this class uses a power point, students are encouraged to actively participate in the activities and discussions so that they can experience for themselves the concepts being explained. No previous knowledge in astronomy is required.
