Wizards and witches will learn how to conjure a T-shirt with their very own design. Materials students will need to make this shirt may likely already be at your home! In class we will discuss different design options. Students will create their own symbols, text, or images after studying my examples. Students will then create their design on a shirt after watching my demonstration. Students do not have to be superior artist to be successful with their creation. ...
For five years of teaching I have created these T-shirts with my 5th graders (10-11 year old students) and they have turned out wonderfully!
Students will need to finish the final 2 steps on their own. I will demonstrate the simplicity of these steps during class. Also students can upload pictures of their t-shirts once completed if they wish!
• A flat workspace for their t-shirt next to the device that is connected to Zoom. • printed out attachments •A plain lightly colored T-shirt that fits them or the person they are making it for. Bright neon colors work well also. Please no dark colored T-shirts. The design will not turn out if the T-shirt is too dark. An older shirt is fine too. It does NOT have to be new. The t-shirt color needs to contrast their paint color of choice. •White masking tape. •Scissors •Black Spray Paint or a darker color. (I use the cheap brand at Walmart) You will not be spraying during class, so if you don’t have it yet no worries! •ventilated area (For after class) •Sturdy rectangle piece of cardboard. (For after class) •Access to a washing machine and detergent (For after class)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Please be aware that students will need to use spray paint which has chemicals. They will need an outdoor area for ventilation. T-shirts generally take less than two minutes to spray depending on the design. I use the cheapest Walmart brand of spray paint. Students will also need access to a washing machine and detergent. There will also be an instruction list attached if students need to refer to it once class is over.
