Do you love acting? Would you like to learn more about theatre arts, improvisation and drama? Then this might be the class for you! Join us as we explore acting through the famous stories of the "Boy who lived" and "He who shall not be named". We will learn what it takes to be a student of drama wizardry! In this live weekly class, students will be introduced to theatre arts through a fantasy realm filled with wizards, witches, and magickal creatures. Using various creative drama techniques to build confidence and trust, stimulate imagination, and role-play, together we will embody the many characters of popular fantasy stories. From scene study to character development, we will explore acting skills and techniques, including creating our own unique characters and group writing projects where we write our own scenes. Students are expected to be able to write character descriptions and collaborate on scenes. They are required to use a gmail account for logging on to Google Docs, to fully participate with cameras and microphones on, and be willing to partner up with classmates for in-class scene study and rehearsals. Each class meeting will consist of theatre warm-ups, improvisation games, individual & group practice of acting techniques, and small groups, or partnering, for scene readings/rehearsals.
Learning Goals
Learners will gain a better understanding of the dramatic arts as a whole, as well as build confidence in their ability to speak in front of groups and learn to collaborate on projects with other members of a cast.

Teacher expertise and credentials
As a professional actor, and acting coach of over 25 years I am quite confident that my experience and education combined have offered me a unique ability to bring this interesting twist on the dramatic arts to my students. I started acting in elementary school and would have LOVED to have access to a unique and creative class like this myself! It's an absolute thrill to be able to create it and teach it to my students now.
