Class Experience

Students will learn a few principles and facts related to Astronomy, Chemistry, and Static electricity:
1. Students will learn what constellations are, some of the basic ones like the Big Dipper, Orion, and Draco (Not Malfoy), and how to find these constellations in the night sky.

2. Students will learn about some of the tools of chemists and how chemistry evolved from the magical discipline of alchemy.

3. Students will learn what static electricity is and how it becomes thunder and lighting. We will also discuss what a Tesla coil is- a device used by scientists and filmmakers to study and simulate lighting.

4. Students will learn about phases of matter as they create a non-newtonian compound (slime).

5. Students will learn what an optical illusion is and how our brains can sometimes play tricks on us.
The class ill not have homework, but the teacher will provide an additional handout for the student to go further in learning about wizard science, including a list of books, apps, and science websites, and a few more potions to cook up with your family at home.
