In this one hour course, your child will discover the enchanting world of science through a series of magical experiments. Learn about such topics as Astronomy, Static Electricity, chemistry, and optical illusions.

Class experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Students will learn a few principles and facts related to Astronomy, Chemistry, and Static electricity:
1. Students will learn what constellations are, some of the basic ones like the Big Dipper, Orion, and Draco (Not Malfoy), and how to find these constellations in the night sky.

2. Students will learn about some of the tools of chemists and how chemistry evolved from the magical discipline of alchemy.

3. Students will learn what static electricity is and how it becomes thunder and lighting. We will also discuss what a Tesla coil is- a device used by scientists and filmmakers to study and simulate lighting.

4. Students will learn about phases of matter as they create a non-newtonian compound (slime). 

5. Students will learn what an optical illusion is and how our brains can sometimes play tricks on us. 
Homework Offered
The class ill not have homework, but the teacher will provide an additional handout for the student to go further in learning about wizard science, including a list of books, apps, and science websites, and a few more potions to cook up with your family at home.

Craft 1: Magic wand:
-Chopstick

- Brown paint
- optional small magnet (1 cm square or smaller)
Static Electricity experiments:
-Comb
-Balloon
- PVC pipe (optional)

Potions
A. Goblin Slime
- Elmer's glue (preferably glitter glue)
- Food coloring (optional)
- Slime activator: either Borax, borid acid and sodium borate, or Elmer's Glue Liquid Slime Activator Solution.

B. Glow in the dark potion bottles 
- 2-3 small craft bottles with lids
- 2-3 glow sticks
- gloves

C. Polyjuice Potion
Sherbet (1/2 carton)

Lemon Lime soda (Sprite, Sierra Mist, etc).

A few drops of food coloring.
