Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 6
In this class we will read the seventh Harry Potter book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" by J.K. Rowling. We will follow along on the adventures of the friends during their seventh year at school. This class is perfect for first time readers and for students that want to re-read the book. Each week the students will read the assigned chapters before our live class meeting. During our live class, I will facilitate the discussion with questions that will help the students to critically think about what they read each week. Through the class discussions the students will work on comprehension skills, character analysis, comparing and contrasting, connections, author's purpose, and much more!

This class is a great way for your child to become actively engaged in what they are reading, share their love of this magical world with other students, and develop critical thinking skills.

Our class schedule is below. Students will need to read the listed chapters before our live meeting each week so that they can participate in the discussion.

Week 1: Read Chapters 1-6
Week 2: Read Chapters 7-11
Week 3: Read Chapters 12-18
Week 4: Read Chapters 19-24
Week 5: Read Chapters 25-30
Week 6: Read Chapters 31- Epilogue
Learning Goals

Parental Guidance
This series is a much loved children's book series about wizards and magic. The books in this series start out lighthearted but do get a little darker as the series goes on. Later books in the series deal with the bad guys wanting to kill people that don't have "pureblood" and the deaths of some beloved characters. I always recommend that parents read a book first to decide if it is a good fit for their child!
Supply List
Students will need a copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling. Print books, e-books, and audiobooks are all fine, choose the book medium you feel most comfortable with!
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
