Class Experience

Welcome Wizards and Witches,

In this 4-week flexible schedule class, my magical students will be provided with instructional videos to make four different magical drink recipes: Witchy Butter Flavored Drink, Polyjuice Potion, Pumpkin Fizz, Gilly water and a bonus* Felix Felicis. The witches and wizards in class will brew up these recipes with my instructions (in attached videos). As a professor of many different pupils, I understand the importance of trying different recipes and giving an honest opinion. One of my students may love a recipe, another one may not care for it. After you have made and tried your creation the student is expected to post a picture or video to share their creation with the professor and other students. Did you put a fun twist on your creation? What did your audience think of your magical dessert?

For fun interactive aspects of the day:
-Tuesday: Wizardly HP Trivia
-Wednesday: Would you rather?
-Thursday: Wizardly World This or That
-Friday, I will ask a few questions about the magical treats, recipes, or process. Included in this Friday check in and discussion, students should tell their success story of completing this weeks baking. They can also report tips or struggles of their creation. All of these conversations will happen in the Outschool classroom. Students are expected to interact kindly with each other and the teacher within the Outschool classroom during the week and during the Friday review.

(FLEX CLASS FORMAT)
In the pre-recorded video lesson, I will show the students different techniques or steps for the weeks recipe. Watch it at your convenience. You can pause the video between steps and then watch the next step. This is especially helpful in a drink making course like this one. Then you can ask questions and/ or post pictures of the different steps of the student creating the drink. I will respond to comments or messages as quickly as possible during the week.
***A Flex class does not have live classroom sessions but is video-based. You watch the classes whenever it is convenient for you and then participate in the classroom discussion. I'll be available through that discussion to answer questions, give advice, and offer critiques on all your creations. Each week I will hand out an ingredient/supply list, recipe, and tips.

  *No previous experience is required.
**Parental Supervision and discretion is required and preferred with any use of the hot cooktop, oven, or electronic mixing tools.

Objectives for class time to be met by the students:
--The student will practice reading and following a recipe.
--The student will become familiar with and practice using kitchen tools to measure specific ingredients.
--The student will practice cooking on a stove/oven. (*Parental supervision is strongly encouraged.)
--The student will confidently share their completed creations/recipes with their audience at home and their professor/classmates.

In this flexible schedule cooking class, we will make these cookie recipes:
Week 1: Witchy Butterbrew Flavored Drink
Week 2: Polyjuice Potion
Week 3: Gilly water and *** BONUS**** Felix Felicis
Week 4: Pumpkin Fizz

I look forward to mixing up a magical time!
