1 hour per week. I will design interactive assignments on how to read stellar maps, research a famous astronomer, and create their own constellations. Each assignment will have an accompanying handout that your child can fill out and post to the class page.Certificate of Completion
You will have a certificate listing your skill as a junior magical astronomer.Class Experience
US Grade 5 - 8
Beginner Level
The teacher will explain astronomy in the character of a wizard, drawing parallels between the myths surrounding planets, stars, and constellations, and the scientific reality. Thus, the students play both magic students and junior scientists. The class will implement short videos, 3-d astronomy websites, and interactive quizzes for the students to test their knowledge. The whole course will conclude with a short quiz about what we've learned, and a handout and certificate that the students can take home.
Learning Goals
Students will learn what constellations are, some of the basic ones like the Big Dipper, Orion, and Draco (Not Malfoy), and how to find these constellations at night
