What would a tree say if it could talk? Would people think differently if they could experience the wisdom of an old Oak Tree? In this book adventure, we will explore one of NY Times bestselling children's novel "Wish Tree" by Katherine Applegate. This adventure will have your students looking for "golden lines", creating hands-on projects, sharing thoughts, and entering critical thinking skills in live class discussions. Students will need their own copy of the book, a great imagination, and a sense of humor. Question and answer time will be facilitated at every meeting and students are encouraged to participate in the live book discussion. Each week a reading portion will be assigned. Students will keep a Wish Tree notebook to record vocabulary words with definitions, answer the question of the week, and record golden lines. Hands-on related projects will also be assigned for homework. Katherine Applegate delivers a novel with hilarious one-liners, deep topic discussions on inclusion, and a beautiful command of language. Join us on this epic adventure book study! Each class will include the following elements... * in-depth book discussions * vocabulary review and definitions * finding and sharing golden lines * answering the big juicy question of the week * a hands-on experiment that advances cross-curricular learning * study guide walkthrough with literary analysis

Welcome!
My background in teaching goes back ten years when I began to home-school my own children and my bachelors degree is in Early Childhood Education. I love hands-on learning and embrace the Charlotte-Mason style. My past teaching experience in the classroom includes 5th & 9th grade English and 5th grade art and history. Currently, I teach Life Science to 3rd-4th grade students at a home-school co-op. I also teach English as a second language online to students in China! I love learning about other cultures, going on nature walks, exploring , running, and everything elementary! One of my goals after competing my bachelors is to earn a masters degree in education. It has been my passion to see the light of learning torched to life in children. My desire is to reach beyond the screen and kindle the spark of learning into roaring and radiant flames.
