In this beginner jewelry class we will be working with wire. I will be discussing various types of sizes of wire and we will do two projects. We will be making a pendant for a necklace and some earrings. I hope to equip your student with some basic metal skills so that they can continue creating and experimenting on their own and possibly take more advanced classes later. Please note: These projects can be a bit challenging to beginners. I have a course titled "Beginning Jewelry and Metalwork With Wire Art" that is still challenging but a bit easier and may be a better first course. I will be encouraging some group discussion as we create together in a positive and encouraging environment. Because of the nature of this class, I would like all of the students to leave their videos on throughout the class as much as possible. It is much easier to instruct them if I can see what they are working on. Parent note: We will be working with and cutting wire. Though this is a fairly safe activity and lots of children will not need extra parental supervision, you know your own child best.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, I am a silversmith, jewelry designer, and a mother of three teenagers. I really enjoy watching children explore their creativity while supplying practical hands on instruction to help them grow in their ability. As a homeschooling mother, I've had the opportunity to teach several art and metalsmithing classes. I also love good literature and preschool aged kids and may throw in some fun story classes as well.
I have been a silversmith for several years and enjoy making the gold, silver, and copper jewelry that I also sell. I loved creating beaded jewelry as a young child and never imagined that it would continue into a career as an adult. Because of this, I love to encourage children to explore their own creativity.
