Baking enthusiasts of all levels are welcome to join our holiday challenge. Brainstorm and ask questions live, create independently, and present your masterpieces the following week! There’s a new theme each week.

What's included

4 live meetings
2 hrs 40 mins in-class hours
Projects
1-2 hours per week. There are three dessert challenges in this class. Bakers will create their own project based on the weekly themes.
Assessment
Parent may request evaluation feedback on learner participation and demonstration of understanding. These points will be evaluated through class participation.

Class Experience

Welcome to our Winter Wonderland Bake-Off, a virtual holiday baking event for bakers and dessert-enthusiasts of all levels! Each week, we'll dive into a new, exciting theme: Snowflake Spectacular, Hot Cocoa Creations, and Frosty Friends. In our live sessions, we'll brainstorm ideas and answer questions to help spark your child's creativity.

Participants will choose their projects based on the weekly theme, ensuring each creation is tailored to their interest, skill level, and creative style. Without set recipes, learners are encouraged to explore and innovate, making the bake-off a truly personalized experience.

Throughout the week, kids will work independently on their projects, putting their unique spin on the theme. During our following live session, they will present their finished masterpieces to the group, celebrating their creativity and sharing inspiration with peers. Join us for a fun, inclusive baking adventure that encourages creativity and skill development!

Syllabus

4 Lessons
over 4 Weeks
Lesson 1:
Kick-Off and Best Practices
 In this session, we’ll get to know one another and review how the challenge works.  
We’ll also review some baking best practices to set everyone up for success in the coming weeks.
Lastly, we’ll brainstorm ideas for the week two challenge!

Snowflake Spectacular
 Bakers will present their creations that correlate with our theme of the week - Snowflake Spectacular!  

We’ll review ideas and details for next week’s theme as well.

We’ll review some iconic holiday dessert flavors as well!

Other Details

Supply List
There is no set supply list because learners will be choosing their own projects each week.  

Learners may request a few supplies but will also be encouraged to work with supplies that are on hand whenever possible.  

In our first week together, we’ll discuss project planning and management to make securing any necessary ingredients and supplies a smooth process.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Meagan (she/her) I am a professional baker who has been teaching confectionery arts on Outschool for six years now.  I have loved baking since I was the age of most of my learners!  In fact, in class you’ll see my beloved KitchenAid stand mixer that was my 12th birthday present and is still a total workhorse to this day!  

When my kids were young, I decided to take some cake decorating classes to ensure my kids always had show-stopping cakes at their parties.  Over time it blossomed into a career beyond my wildest dreams.  I operated a bakery for a number of years and eventually transitioned into this ultra-fulfilling role as a confectionery arts teacher.  

I love seeing the creativity, patience, and precision that goes into each learner’s work.  However, I also love seeing them manage a project from start to finish.  I am proud of them when they are faced with a setback in their project, and they calmly make a plan B.  I enjoy watching them interact in the virtual classroom as they learn from one another and provide feedback/compliments on the work of their peers.  There is so much more to cake decorating than just cake.  (((Although as an invested parent it is your responsibility to partake in eating their delicious homework – haha!)))  These learners grow in so many ways throughout class and it is a blessing to participate in that process.  

I am so excited for this opportunity to create with your learner.
