US Grade 3 - 4
In this multi-day class, kids will create a different science experiment every week. It will vary between edible and non-edible experiments. This class is beginner-friendly, even the most novice scientist will be guided through this class so that he/she may have a blast! A week before class, students will be provided with a list of the ingredients needed for that week’s class. At the beginning of class, the students should have all of their materials ready and within reach. The kids will learn through step by step instructional PowerPoint while I help out any kids that need a little more guidance. Each slide will correspond with a step in the experiment. Students will be expected to participate in a discussion about the different experiments as we do them but are always welcome to pass if they are an introvert. As we concoct our different experiments, we will discuss the different reactions with each experiment and why the reaction is occurring. I encourage feedback on how we could make our experiments even more fun if the students have input. Depending on the experiment, the kids might finish up with their parents after class but most experiments will finish during class. Week 1: How to make gumdrops and Making a Lava lamp Week 2: Rainbow jar and Milk Art Week 3: Soap Clouds and Edible Slime Week 4: Cool Crystals and Bottle Rocket Week 5: Invisible Ink and Making butter Week 6: Aqua Sand (2 day class) Week 7: Making Ice Cream and Water fireworks Week 8: Making bouncy balls and Polar bear blubber Week 9: Turning milk into plastic and making elephant toothpaste Week 10: Let's make giant bubbles and slushie science
