Description

Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
Students will improve their comprehension skills including prediction, summarising, inference, retrieval and understanding new vocabulary. It also aims to inspire a love and enjoyment of listening to reading aloud.
As a qualified primary school teacher I have lots of experience and expertise with reading to children and teaching comprehension skills. I have a track record of improving comprehension and reading fluency across a range of age groups and helping to foster a love of reading for children.
After each class students will receive reading comprehension practice activities. This practice is not graded by me, but the answers will be included for you (the parent or guardian) to assess the student at home as well.
Pencil and paper (or a whiteboard and markers) should be kept handy.
Assessment will be informal and ongoing. Each week students will receive a practice worksheet which parents can check and review. This is optional and is not graded by me.
I am happy to answer any questions from parents regarding their student based on my class observations.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please note that Narnia (C.S Lewis) will be discussed from a literary point of view only and not the allegory.
