25 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
During this one time class, students will gather together and celebrate the spirit of Christmas! Please note that this is more of a holiday class and there will be mentions of reindeer, Santa, elves, etc. but no mention of religion. Schedule will be similar to the following: 1. Greeting/How are you? Students will say hello to the teacher and one another. Students will be asked a Christmas "ice-breaker" question where they get the opportunity to share with the class. 2. Numeracy Activities: Students will play number games by counting different Christmas themed objects. 3. Song and Dance! Students will participate in a winter themed "follow along" dance game (a 2 minute Youtube video will be shared with permission from the publisher. The teacher will be on camera while the video is shared and participating/directing as well). 4. Students will start their snowman craft (A print out will be sent ahead of time and some light prep will need to be done (cutting out the 3 circles, hat, and scarf). In class we will glue the pieces onto a sheet of paper and decorate the snowman / background. I will post an example to the classroom ahead of class time. 4. Goodbye and Happy Holidays! Parents, please assist your child off camera when needed. I try to allow the children to keep their microphones on at all times as I want the children to be able to answer questions and interact with one another; because of this, please find a quiet space in your house for your child to take class. If there is a lot of background noise I will ask that you mute and unmute your child during class time. Thank you for understanding :) A little about me: I work fulltime as an elementary school teacher at a private academic school. I have my certification in special needs education, my bachelor’s degree in elementary education, and am currently completing my masters in early childhood development. I have over 6 years of teaching and specialize in early elementary (teaching students between 4 and 8 years old). Teaching is my absolute passion and I put my heart into everything I do. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in class discussion and will be asked questions during class time. However, if a child is not comfortable sharing they will not be forced. As an early childhood educator I understand that students will share when they are ready!
