US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
Let's have fun playing jeopardy while also reviewing and practicing Kindergarten math skills! This class will cover several math skills/concepts, and will be highly interactive. There will not be a formal lecture, as the class will focus on playing the game and allowing for the most student participation possible. However, it is okay if your child does not yet know every single thing covered, or gets something incorrect. I will keep score during the game and will announce the winner at the end of class - but we will also stress that we are playing for fun! Sample questions: What number does this die (or dice) show? What shape is this? How many objects do you see (up to 20)? What number is this (up to 20)? *Please note that the class is scheduled to run for 30 minutes, but the length may vary slightly depending on the number of learners enrolled, as well as their ability levels. All classes will begin promptly at the start time. Per Outschool policy, there are no refunds for missed classes. Please contact me more than 24 hours before a class you find your learner will have to miss, in order to allow time for me to transfer your learner to another section of the class. Unfortunately, I can not accommodate same-day transfers, as it does not give ample time for other learners to find and register for the class.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding and be provided with practice on a number of math skills, including: counting, numeral identification, subitizing, shape identification, 1:1 correspondence, and more. This class is highly interactive and engaging, with students participating in a jeopardy game with peers. Students will also be presented with opportunities to practice discussion and oral language skills.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hello! I am Ms. Katie. I teach classes of different interests and topics for young learners. I have a passion for this age group and love to interact with my students in fun and engaging ways!
I believe that learning should be FUN and that even our youngest learners should have the opportunity to express themselves while developing and following their own interests. I strive to make my classroom a safe, engaging space where all learners feel comfortable doing so. I also believe in tailoring learning to a student's development, interests, and abilities. I have enjoyed the freedom to provide such educational experiences to my own children whom I homeschool, and love doing the same for my learners now on Outschool!
I have taught in a variety of settings and environments for the last 13 years. I have been a teacher for over 10 years. I spent 9 years in the public education system as a classroom teacher, 3 in 3rd grade and 6 in Kindergarten. I taught the entire 2020-21 school year virtually, to 50 Kindergarten students! I have years of experience in learning support, gifted support, autism support, emotional support. I have also helped to run an outdoor, nature-centered camp for children ages 4-14. I served as an Envirothon coach for grades 3 and 4, and helped to start and run a "Storybook STEM" club for elementary aged children. I have my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and my Master's Degree in Education. I am also a Google Certified Educator.
On a personal note, I love being outside, hiking, reading, traveling, baking, and being a mom to my own 3 young children who also love to take classes on Outschool.
