US Grade 3
In this class, students will practice their math skills while figuring out who is the culprit that is cutting down the trees in Snowball Forest! With each math problem that students solve, they will get a clue to figure out the mystery! I guide students through the escape room by first modeling a problem that is similar to the question they will see in the escape room. Then, when the escape room problem appears on the Google Slides, students will solve independently and then either private chat me the answer or show me the answer on their paper. This will allow me to give feedback and support to help students become a stronger mathematician. Then, we will take turns sharing how we solved the problem. I am a very encouraging teacher and like to show students a variety of strategies to help them pick the one that works for them. I also love when students share their ideas and strategies so we can learn from each other! Common Core Standards that are addressed: 2.NBT.1, 2.NBT.4, 2.NBT.5, 2.MD.10 Students need a basic understanding of number sense and adding and subtracting three digit numbers.
